I was a brick and stones mason in my former life—a journeyman through and through. I approach ministry from a workman’s perspective. Christianity is a lifestyle and practice as much as it is a framework for communing with the divine. We are a people called to love kindness, seek justice and walk humbly with our God. This means that ministry leads to results: hearts and lives are changed, people are fed, outcasts are welcomed in and we commit to loving each other and walking each other home. I love the people I serve with and through them I feel God’s love every day. Worship, which means the work of the people, is the foundation and grounding for practical ministry.

Following Joan Gammie’s six years service to our church, I am proud to be your new board Chair. What an amazing group of skilled, committed people we have looking after the church operations. With Reverend Ray, we will be expanding our horizons to include learning a bit about how to lead and hopefully grow the church- very exciting!

Judy and I have been long time members of the church, with Judy doing a stint for many years as the Sunday School “marm” prior to the Covid years. I am forever impressed by our small but mighty congregation, always engaged in so many positive church, community, and mission initiatives. It is a reflection of our wider Rimbey area community, which offers so much to so many.

My favourite part of our church service is probably Celebrations, and I believe we all have something every day to celebrate in our lives. In our Christian community I am a seeker, watching for quiet signs and glimmers of Christ’s presence to light my way.

I have been retired for six years from an architectural practise in Red Deer. Like so many other retirees, I wonder when I ever found time to work. I sit on the church’s Property committee and was a strong advocate for the recent successful Greening Initiative Grant the church undertook. I currently also sit on the Rimbey Community Library Board.

Judy, our dog Gladdy and I live on an acreage southeast of town, carved off from the home quarter. Our daughter Kathleen, her husband Kent Beagle and four kids still keep the old homestead humming.

I really look forward to working with Reverend Ray, the Board and all of you over the next few

years to keep building on our strengths, and slowly reinvigorating our membership after the

challenges of the pandemic years.

Carrie was born and raised in Rimbey. She moved away to attend university, and graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Communications and Culture. She then moved to Golden BC, where she worked in Systems and Technology for Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. After a little mountain adventuring, she and her husband returned to Rimbey, where they own and operate Apex Landscaping. They are blessed with three children, who fill them with joy. Carrie spends any spare moment working with textiles and natural dyes.
