Rimbey United Church Marriage Policy
1. The fee for a wedding in the Rimbey United Church is $500.00 and is payable to the Rimbey United Church one month prior to the wedding. A deposit of $100 is required at the time of booking and will be applied to the fee. The booking deposit is fully refundable up to three (3) months before the wedding. In the event of a cancellation, all fees except the $100 booking deposit will be refunded.
2. The $500 fee covers honoraria for the minister, janitor, use of the church sanctuary and registration. All weddings shall be recorded in the Rimbey United Church Register.
3. The United Church organist may be requested for an additional fee of $150. The honoraria for an alternate or additional musicians shall be the responsibility of the couple.
4. The United Church AV equipment and technician may be available for an additional fee of $150. There will be no charge for simple microphone use.
5. It is presumed that the permanent Rimbey United Church minister will perform all weddings. If the regular minister is away the designated clergy will be paid the honoraria and mileage from the regular fee.
6. Should a second United Church clergy be involved in addition to our minister, the resident minister shall be consulted. The couple will be responsible for any honoraria to that clergy and the honoraria for the resident minister shall be paid out of the regular wedding fee.
7. Should an alternate United Church minister be requested, that minister shall contact the resident minister for permission. In this case the honoraria to the alternate minister shall be the responsibility of the couple and a fee of $200 for janitor, registration and use of sanctuary shall apply and be payable to Rimbey United Church one month prior to the wedding.
8. The use of Rimbey United Church for a wedding by another denomination shall be at the discretion of the resident minister and board chair. A fee of $200 shall apply for use of the sanctuary and be payable to Rimbey United Church one month prior to the wedding.
9. The fee for a wedding held outside the church involving the resident minister shall be $300 plus mileage payable to Rimbey United Church one month prior to the wedding.
We affirm relationships of all experiences with church background and denomination. Whether you belong to a different religion or have no religious affiliation, you are invited to hold your wedding ceremony here. We honour and celebrate love in all forms, and invite heterosexual and queer (same-sex, same-gender, trans and non-binary) couples, to consider celebrating their relationships through marriage or similar ceremonies through our congregation. We honour and celebrate the love of interfaith couples, knowing that love is expansive and draws humanity into unity wherever it might flourish. We recognize that many such couples are not accepted by other churches or faith communities. In this regard we seek to be a welcoming place for them, where we can do so in alignment with our affirming experience of the Christian tradition of the United Church of Canada. Our Minister will normally officiate at celebrations of marriage to be held in our sanctuary. Any policy exceptions will be reviewed and decisioned by the Church Board, in consultation with our Minister.
