We're a Batch made in heaven

How do we stay in touch in these times of COVID-19?

At Rimbey United Church we’ve found one answer: gifts of homemade cookies delivered to the doors of our church

families with children.

Working collaboratively, the Caring Team, the Child and Youth Team, and our Pastor Marco Ste-Marie dreamed a scheme to show our families with children that they were not forgotten in these challenging COVID times. Families with young children were contacted to see if they wanted to participate, and if so, had they any allergies. Directions to their homes were obtained.

Then 17 happy households received 35 dozen cookies. And what a variety: cookies shaped like rocket ships and stars, yummy chocolate chip, jumbo raisin and oatmeal, and other delicious kinds, all baked by generous members of our church. Packaged cookies were delivered to 16 families in town and country, and one package was mailed: yes, even takeout! Parents expressed heartfelt appreciation, and children eagerly tore into the cookie packages.

Families told us afterwards that they felt cared for by the church. And we, the cookie crew, all felt “United” in providing “A Batch Made in Heaven.” In this time of restriction, we’ve learned that cookies, caring, and connection can make a difference!

2020halloween trek

Town Office, Rimbey Legion and Rimbey United, were able to set up a socially distanced Halloween Trek, that saw 398 children take part.  Thanks again to all our volunteers and parents for making this event a huge success.

With COVID-19 restrictions, Halloween celebrations looked quite different in 2020.
